Q: How will UK Voices help me find voice over work?
A: UK Voices is the largest online database of voice over talent in the UK. We market our service aggressively to the voiceover industry and advertise widely and regularly. We are deeply committing to making UK Voices the first stop for anyone who needs a voice for a project.
Q: How do I record my audio clip?
A: Simply call our audition line. The friendly recorded message will talk you through the whole process - although you should read our Hints & Tips before you do!
Q: How do I create my profile?
A: First, read our Hints & Tips on creating the perfect profile! Then log in using the username and password received in your welcome text. You are taken through the process. It's very simple.
Q: How do I attach my audio clip to my profile?
A: This is done automatically by our system. Of course, first you have to have created your profile! To do this log in using the log in details sent to you in your welcome text. Then follow the simple instructions.
Q: Who can listen to my audio clip?
A: All registered agents and producers - in fact, anyone who is looking for voiceover talent who has registered with our service - can listen to your audio clip.
Q: How do agents and producers contact me if they want to offer me work?
A: Our system allows all registered agents and producers to send a free text to any user's phone with details of the job. Because the text is sent via our website, your mobile number remains secret. If you choose to reply to the offer of work, then you and your employer will begin to communicate directly.
Q: Do my personal details remain secure?
A: Yes. No-one can access your personal details. When someone wants to offer you work, they send a free text via our website so even at this point your mobile number stays secure. Only if you choose to reply to the job offer do you disclose your mobile number.
Q: How much will I be paid for voice over work?
A: The minimum you will be paid is £50 an hour unless you specifically negotiate to work for less.
Q: Do I need professional recording equipment at home?
A: Most voice over recordings can be made over your existing phone line, or using the recording facilities of a home computer, with the resulting file being sent to your employer by email, or on CD through the post.
Q: Will I be expected to write any scripts?
A: No, all scripts will be provided to you.
Q: Can I change my audio clip and my profile?
A: Yes, you can change either at any time. You can re-record your audio clip by calling our audition line on 0871 873 1006 and following the instructions. You can update your profile by logging in to the website using the username and password sent to you in your welcome text.
Q: If an agent asks me to work for under £50 an hour, what do I do?
A: The choice is yours. Our users are aware that we ask them to pay more than £50 an hour. However, if you personally choose to work for less than £50 an hour and this is fairly and clearly negotiated with your employer, then that is, of course, your decision.
Q: How do I audition for jobs?
A: A lot of employers prefer to search the database themselves, but some ask us to audition voices for them. You can audition for jobs currently advertised on the Jobs page simply by calling 0871 873 1007. Quote the three digit code of the job you're applying for when prompted. Make sure you read the entire script and study the production notes for the script before you begin.
Q: Can you please explain the three different membership options?
A: You will have chosen one of three options. Choosing Option 1 allows you to avoid paying any commission on your earnings. Option 2 requires you to pay 10% of any money you earn through UK Voices, to UK Voices as commission. Option 3 gives four family members access to the service and all pay 10% commission on their earnings. Please note that if you choose this option you will receive the additional three log-ins separately.
Q: How do I pay commission if I am paid by an employer?
A: If you are paid directly by UK Voices, then the 10% commission will be deducted at source. If you are paid directly by an employer, then you must remit 10% of the total amount you were paid to UK Voices within 45 days of you receiving the payment.
Q: How do I qualify for the money-back guarantee?
A: At UK Voices, we are confident that we can help you find work. So, we will offer you a money-back guarantee. Simply supply a full audition for two jobs every week for the length of your 12 months membership. If you are not selected to make the final recording for at least one job during your membership, we'll refund your entire membership fee. Please see terms and conditions for full details.
